Abstract The mapped area is considered a part of rift system; this rift system was formed by the anticlockwise rotation of Arabian plate away from African plate about acoordinate pole of rotation in central or South-central Mediterranean Sea. The exposed rocks of Elhamrawein area are composed of more than 1300m. thick section of sedimentary succession rangr in age from late Cretaceous to recent. The oldest exposed rock units in the area belong to late cretaceous which divided into Nubia, Quseir,Duwi and Dakhla formations. The Paleocene is represented by Tarawn and Esna formations. |
