Abstract SUMMARY Penetration grouting is considered one of the most successful methods used to enhance and improve the soil and the rock mass characteristics without disturbing the formation. Consequently, this technique considered from the most effective techniques for the case study, which we concerned. The objective of the present study is depending on laboratory testing; mainly we studied the effect of sealing the cracks, which appeared on sedimentary rocks with cement-bentonite grout from the shear interface point of view also from the impermeability-improving point of view. Moreover, we studied the rheological and the engineering properties of the grouts, and the change occurred in these properties by changing some factors like the additives type, the bentonite content, the viscosity, the method of mixing, and the time of curing. The case study of sedimentary rocks that used in our research is the limestone of EL Mokattam plateau blocks. It is known that several landslides occurred in this region |
