Abstract

Work environment must facilitate safety compliance by providing conditions that maximize consistent adherence to safety related policies and procedures and must be conducive to employee participation in safety.Safety participation differs from safety compliance in its emphasis on voluntary as opposed to required behaviors through which employees make positive contributions to workplace safety. (140)Describing the safety culture in acute care units is an important first step in the development of work environments where safety is consistently recognized and enacted as a high priority.(139)
So, the current study aimed to determine the relationship between nurses’ perceptions of their work environment and patient safety culture.
