Abstract As a result of current developments and changes, intellectual, religious, cultural or technological; Needs are changing, so there is a need to have an architecture that respond to the changing needs. Kinetic Architecture is used as a continuous response to the changes and variations of Needs. There is many terms derived from Kinetic Architecture, one of these terms is the Transformable Dynamic Architecture, where the research scope. Movement in architecture is not a new trend, but it had been in the old ages. It was used to build fixed & static buildings, and keep away from using the various solutions derived from transformation. These solutions can arise building efficiency and achieve functional, environmental and economic properties. So there are a lot of questions, what is the importance of using transformable components in buildings? When it is ought to use these solutions? What are its forms? where and how it can be applied? What is considerations token in place while application? The Thesis contains the introduction and five chapters. The introduction contains the research aims, problem, limitations and research skeleton. Chapter One: Contains a brief history of Transformable Dynamic buildings, to ensure the importance of transformable buildings, by studying the beginning and development of transformable building throughout four ages. This was to know the importance of transformable buildings, when it can be used, and know the reasons which makes this type of buildings take a place. Chapter Two: discusses the general properties of transformable buildings. This chapter starts with defining the main philosophy of Kinetic Architecture and defining the term of Transformable Dynamic Architecture. There are many classifications for this type of buildings, so a classification was put to accommodate the research requirements. So it has been classified into two types, buildings with movable structures and buildings with transformable structures. Then, it can be said that the transformable buildings are similar to mechanical systems, which contains structure, materials, actuators, inputs and controllers. |
