Abstract

Energy is very important in our life especially electricity. We cannot fulfill our needs without energy. Energy has many sources which can be converted into electricity. There are conventional energy sources such as coal, oil and natural gas. There are also renewable sources such as solar energy, wind energy and biomass. Based on the importance of renewable energy to reduce the gap between demand and supply, this study come to shed light on the different technologies to generate the new and renewable energy and reach the most efficient economic alternative.
Generating technologies differ from country to another according to the distribution of renewable energy sources in this country. There are countries which have plenty of solar power and consequently they exploit these sources through different developed technologies. For example, the United States and Spain are considered countries which made a great breakthrough in the exploitation of thermal solar energy through constructing stations and developing technologies rapidly in these stations beside resorting to centers of development and searching which supply them with informations and updated technologies. Germany and the united states also exploited Solar Photovoltaic to achieve the maximum benefit from the solar energy , they also constructed a lot of stations , though these stations costs are higher than Solar Photovoltaic stations, but with time we can change the high cost row material as silicon and other materials with low cost alternatives and as a result achieve the difficult equation: achieving the effectiveness and efficiency of these technologies through the integration of thermal solar energy technologies with Solar Photovoltaic technologies producing modern technology which is called Concentrated photovoltaic power. As Alamosa solar power plant in the United States.
Some countries in the world have availability of wind energy as Europe, united states, Japan, India, German .the united states and Japan are started using modern technologies which have an impact on raising the efficiency of using the wind energy. The United States uses the airborne turbines, which costs less than onshore wind turbine and offshore wind turbine. Japan also uses wind lens turbine which reduces cost more than the conventional turbines. Therefore the U.S. and Japan were able to achieve economic efficiency in the exploitation of wind energy through advanced technologies.
Egypt can benefit from the experiences of these countries in the application of modern technologies of solar and wind energy. Egypt also uses renewable energy technologies, which is represented in The El Kureimat Power Plant and The Zafarana Wind station, but these technologies cannot be compared to the modern ones used in other countries, as photovoltaic Solar Alamosa and airborne wind turbines.
Based on SWAT analysis of benefit and the cost of each technology, (both conventional and modern one), it is reached that the modern technologies are less costs and higher benefits than conventional technologies and therefore we recommend using the modern technologies instead of the conventional ones in Egypt which confirm the research hypothesis.
