Abstract

Jojoba has the highest CN% wt. and the highest Cp + CN % wt. So, it can be said that Jojoba has the best chemical composition compared to those of the tested neutral base oil samples.
Ten engine lubricating oil blends either gasoline oil blends (Five API SL 15 w/40 blends) and diesel blends (Five API CG-4 blends) were formulated using the tested base oil samples, the recommended additives and Jojoba oil. The physical and chemical properties of the repaired blends were determined according to routine and non –routine standard test methods. The results obtained for gasoline blends indication that Viscosity @100˚C ,cSt ,flash point, TBN,Sulphated ash ant metal content are within spacification.CCS@-20˚C of blends 0, 10, 20 % Jojoba are with specification while blends 30% &40% Jojoba are out of specification . Improvement in viscosity index by increasing the percent of Jojoba. Oxidation stability increases in 10% &20% of Jojoba blends by 40%, 92% respectively. The results obtained for diesel blends indicated that viscosity @100˚C cSt, TBN & metal content are within specification. Viscosity index and flash point increases by increasing the percent of Jojoba. The oxidation stability increases in 10% , 20%, 30% &40% blends by 39%.74%,74% &39% respectively.
In trials for decreasing the dosage, %wt. of used viscosity index improver for API SL 15w/40 (20% Jojoba blend). So, three blends were prepared 3.1(reducing VII by 50% using base oil America 140/160), 3.2(reducing VII by 50% without using base oil America 140/160 &3.3(reducing VII by 25% without using base oil America 140/160 the physical and chemical properties were determined in addition to the oxidation stability. The results obtained indicated that. The best blend is 3.3 blend so, it meets all specification with increasing of oxidation stability 430 min.
For API SL 15w/40 a feasibility study was carried out for blends congaing 0% &10% Jojoba we noticed that blend containing 20%wt. Jojoba has lower cost the production blend by 14.08%
And also a feasibility study was carried out for API CG-4(blends containing 0%,10%&20% Jojoba, it was noticed that blend contains 20% wt. Jojoba is the best blend has lower cost than the production blend (0% Jojoba ) by 11.81%.
