Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to determine the crucial success factors of project and project management and to examine the interrelationship between these crucial success
factors where each other. By using this framework it’s possible to identify crucial success factors that are significantly related together to show the type and size of project and
stakeholder type. This framework provides the responsible managers and decision makers with empirical values on project factors and their efficacy in bringing success and developing projects processing and project management. This framework is about how to apply the project management success factors in developing countries mainly in Egypt. The results can be indicators for the responsible mangers and decision makers to increase
visibility of project goals success.
Finally this framework discusses the most important major success factors and the least important major success factors. The major success factors are seven major factors related to
project management (project - project manager - top management support - project team -
organization - environment - tools and techniques). The study is shown that those set of the most important major factors are factors related to project itself. The set of the least
important major factors are factors related to environment for (all projects - medium -
consultant - Electro-mechanical), organization for (large - contractor - civil) and finally
factors related to manager for (small). Each major factor is divided into eleven sub-factors; most important sub-factors and least important sub-factors. The most important sub-factors
are the set of sub-factors size, duration and value related to project for (all- large - medium
- contractors - civil) projects. Also there are some important success sub-factors; the set of sub-factors economic environment, and Budget management related to organization for
(Electro-mechanical - consultants - small) projects. The least important sub-factor is urgency related to organization for (all - large - small - contractors - civil) projects, Sub-
contractor control related to project team members for (Consultants - medium) projects and other scope known by members related to project team members for (Electro-mechanical)
projects.
