Abstract There was significant progress in the field of digital communication it became possible to access the Internet simply by plugging the computer into a wall socket in homes, offices or companies. Communication via the power lines (PLC) are exploiting infrastructure on a wide range of electrical power networks to provide high-speed broadband and multimedia in the home or office. Until recently, the main obstacle in the lack of adoption of PLC technology is the lack of an international standard issued by the Standardization Organization universally recognized. This obstacle have been removed by agreeing on IEEE 1901 standard for broadband networks across the electricity transmission lines and open new height in the industry PLC. However, the characteristics of electric power grids offer some technical challenges for high-speed data communications. Noise In power outlet is the sum of the noise produced by the different devices related in production line impulsive noise and other interferences of narrow band. In this thesis we tested a practical set of modems, which are used in communication over power lines and studied the most important factors affecting the performance of the modem during the practical application of the actual communication networks. |
