المستخلص

The researcher Muneer O. Shubair prepared a study under the title
of the effectiveness of an integrative program for the development of the
professional skills of the School Counselors in governmentals schools in
Gaza Strip, Ph.D. thesis, Department of Mental Health and Psychological
Counseling, Faculty of Education, University of Ain Shams, 2014.
The present study aims to examine the effectiveness and its
verification of an integrative program for the development of the
professional skills of the school counselors. These professional skills are
(Reinforcement, Behavioral Contracting, Modeling, Assertiveness,
Relaxation, Asking Questions, Abstraction, Interpretation, Professional
Relationship and Persuasion). The case study sample consisted of (36)
counselors that have been equally divided into two equivalent groups;
(18) for the Experimental group and (18) for the Control group. The
Experimental method and a range of tools including a measure of
professional skills of the school counselors, the training program, and the
score card prepared by researcher were used at this study. Also, the
statistical treatment was used including Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient,
Alpha Cronbach’s Correlation Coefficient, Jetman’s Correlation
Coefficient, Mann-Whitney’s Test and Wilcoxon’s Test.
The results indicate the effectiveness of the training program in the
integrative professional development for school counselor and the
continuity of the effectiveness until after its application and during the
follow-up period.
The study recommended the establishment of an arab league that is
responsible for regulating the profession of counseling and preparing an
arab formula for the academic and the professional preparation of a
school counselor in a way that is commensurate with the ethical
standards, legal rules and work training courses in professional skills with
different levels that are commensurate with the level of each counselor
and continuous training for in-service schools counselors.
