Abstract
Teaching methods had been of great importance in the progress of knowledge of anatomy. In addition, the need to preserve cadavers had led to the development of various techniques (carrels) or modules for teaching purposes.
Several teaching modules were used in this research. The aim of using such modules was to increase knowledge, understanding as well as imagination of students about the complex anatomical parts of the goat nervous system.
Apparently healthy eight goats of both sexes (ranged from 10 months to 2 years age) and twenty heads of freshly slaughtered goats from native breeds were used. Goats were subjected to several techniques. Prior to each one, the goats were prepared by injected via I/V by Xylazine Hcl (0.05-0.1 mg/kg), cutting Arteria carotis communis for complete bleeding, and injected via the latter artery with 10% formalinized solution then immersed in the same solution for at least four weeks. Fresh goat’s heads were washed by running tap water then were cannulated via common carotid artery with saline then injected with 10% formalized solution. Parts of the goat nervous system were dissected and displayed through using different techniques.
The present study provided enhancement for the teaching of the different parts of the nervous system of the goat in our department through using different teaching methods such as;
