Abstract
The present work deals with the ecological study of Eclipta alba which belongs to family Asteraceae. E. alba is annual- short lived perennial, erect or prostrate, much brached. Leaves are simple, opposite or sessile. It is lanceolate in shape having minutely serrate margin and acute apex. The plant carries numerous terminal flower head, capitula with white colour, each is attached to a slender peduncle can spread by seeds and rootlets at the stem nodes.
The plant attracted the attention due to their economic, medicinal uses and it is also widely distributed in the flora of Egypt. The study concerning the botanical aspects to contribute more knowleges about their morphological characteristics, taxonomic positions, geographical distribution and anatomical features.
The study provides an ecological survey of the vegetation and investigation of floristic composition and distribution of the plant life in two habitat types at Menia El Kamh of Shakia Province, namely El alfiya irrigation canal (unpolluted locality) and Aboul akhdar drain (polluted locality).
