Abstract

physicians due to its complications and prolonged hospital stay with increased cost. With early discharge practice, neonatal hyperbilirubinemia has become an important cause of readmission. The aim of our study is to compare between the efficacy of oral phenobarbitone and oral fenofibrate in treatment of indirect neonatal hyperbilirubinemia in full term newborn due to exaggerated physiological, ABO or RH incomptability. Our study was carried out on 60 full term newborn suffering from indirect neonatal hyperbilirubinemia divided into two groups:- Group I: This group included 30 full term neonates with indirect neonatal hyperbilirubinemia (17 male and 13 female). Their postnatal age ranged between (2-6 days). 9 neonates delivered by normal vaginal delivery representing 30% of the group and the reminder 21 neonates delivered by caesarian section about 21% of the same group. Their gestational age ranged between 36-40 weeks and their weight ranged between 2500-3600g.
