Abstract

The aim of the present study is to design the mechanism of oscillating wing under operating conditions of sinusoidal pitching and plunging motions in power extraction regime. The optimization method is performed to handle the design parameters such as reynolds number, pitching amplitude, and non-dimensional frequency. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) based on the realizable K-E turbulence model is implemented without including the effect of mechanical friction to handle the NACA0012 airfoil geometry. The aerodynamic characteristics of oscillating wing for unsteady incompressible two-dimensional turbulent flow are explored. The experimental investigations are carried out through an experimental mechanism with certain smoothness.
In order to carry out the experimental work, three dimensional contraction of existing open circuit wind tunnel is designed.
