Abstract
In this study MR urography has been successfully used for the evaluation of congenital urogenital anomalies in pediatric urinary tract disease. MRU can be the next imaging modality of choice in children with sonographically detected abnormalities in the urinary tract especially when ultrasound study is not conclusive.
MRU appears to be indicated particularly in patients with severe and/or complex pathology, in ectopic ueretral insertion and duplex systems with poor function and associated genital malformation, where it is diagnostically better and also may replace some conventional imaging modalities and thus may help to save costs by replacing inferior, non-diagnostic methods.
Our thesis included 60 subjects (17 female and 13 male) with different congenital urinary tract abnormalities.Their age ranged from newborn to 10 years with mean age of 30 monthes.They were consecutively referred to the radiology department in Zagazig and Mansoura Urology and Nephrology Center from the outpatient clinic.
The following examination were done:
1-History and clinical examinations.
2-Urine analysis and Serum creatinine.
3-Plain x-ray of urinary tract for the case of Ectopia vesica.
