Abstract

I.!NTRODIJCTJON
Due to the Irlcre3:3Lr1CJ rate ot th<C lcjyptian
population, Egypt iS facerl by a critical Food problem,
and unless concentrated effort are dtrected to maximize
the agricultural production. fhe problem will
develop to be a crisis, ~nd the ressure on horizontal
expansion of land resources, the uttltzatton of new
sandy areas is a U II must . The cultivation of new
sandy areas became the hope 1n overcoming the def1ciency
in food requ1remenls.
With the except1on of small scattered areas
in the Delta and Nile valley, most of the sandy
so1ls are 1n Lhe deserts and fr1ngs which makes up
more than 9 ’> ?o uf the total area of Egypt.
