Abstract The study presented in this thesis include development and application of some analytical techniques namely fluorimetry and spectrophotometry for the determination of some active drugs components (e.g. gatifloxacin, ciprofloxacin) and glucose. The thesis is divided into 4 chapters:- Chapter one :- Includes a general introduction on lanthanides and other methods used for determination of gatifloxacin, ciprofloxacin and glucose. Chapter two :- Describes a highly selective and sensitive spectrofluorimetric method for the assessment of gatifloxacin in pharmaceutical tablets and serum sample based on the enhancement of luminescence intensity of the optical sensor Tb3+ ion . In ammonia buffer solution (pH = 8.0) the gatifloxacin can remarkably enhance the luminescence intensity of Tb3+ ion in Tb3+- GTX complex at λex= 340 nm. The produced luminescence intensity of Tb3+- GTX complex in Acetonitrile is proportional to the concentration of CFX and can used as optical sensor for its determination. Limit of detection (LOD)= 1.6 x 10-8 mol L-1. Chapter three:- Describes a highly selective and sensitive spectrofluorimetric method for the assessment of ciprofloxacin in pharmaceutical tablets and serum sample based on the enhancement of luminescence intensity of the optical sensor Eu3+ ion. In ammonia buffer solution (pH = 6.0) the ciprofloxacin can remarkably enhance the luminescence intensity of EU3+ ion in EU3+- CFX complex at λex = 365 nm . The produced luminescence intensity of Eu3+- CFX complex in Acetonitrile is proportional to the concentration of CFX and can used as optical sensor for it’s determination. Limit of detection (LOD) = 3.3 x 10-9 mol Ll-. Chapter four:- A novel spectroflourimetric probe for determining glucose in human serum samples.is used The optimal experimental conditions of working solvent, pH and also the concentration of Eu-(CFX) doped in sol gel matrix fluorophore corresponding to maximum fluorescence intensity were investigated. Under optimal conditions, the quenched fluorescence intensity of Eu-(CFX) doped in sol-gel matrix is proportional to the concentration of glucose in the range 5.0 × 10−9 to 1.0 ×10−6 mol L−1 (r = 0.994). The detection limit (S:N = 3) (LOD) is 2.9 × 10−9 mol L−1. This method is used for determination of glucose in serum of diabetic patients |
