Abstract Two-dimensional echocardiography has become an important diagnostic procedure in the practice of cardiology because it can be used to demonstrate an accurate anatomic and functional analysis of the heart (Nishimura eta/., 1985). Recently, Doppler echocardiography has added a new dimension to the non-invasive diagnosis of heart disease. It is capable of reliably evaluating blood flow patterns in most normal and abnormal states and has been of great use as a supplement to imaging echocardiographic examination (Halle, 1982 and Cooper et al., 1989). |
