Abstract

Preeclampsia is a pregnancy induced hypertension observed after the 20th week of pregnancy in a previously normotensive pregnant women accompanied by significant proteinuria. Blood pressure usually returns to baseline within days to weeks after delivery. It is the disease of theories as the exact nature of the disease is still unknown.
The aim of the work was to determine the association between the increased body mass index and the risk of preeclampsia. Also the possible role of serum hs-CRP was evaluated.
Our study was conducted on 60 pregnant women attended the outpatient clinic of Shatby Maternity University Hosptial at (24-40 weeks) of gestation. Classified into allocated into the three study groups (each no = 20).
Group A: control group.
Group B: mild pre-eclampsia.
Group C: severe pre- eclampsia.
All the studied women were subjected to:
1. Complete history taking.
2. Clinical examination especially.
