Abstract INTRODUCTION AND AIM Of THE WORK Cancer detection is still a great diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. prognosis is extremely poor, because the disease is generally recognised at a very advanced stage and its course is very rapid. Profound activities of metabolic changes are quite small tumors associated with the which would otherwise remain undetected until! they are large enough to produce local or systemic manifestations. Detection of such rather early changes have been employed over the past several years as indicators for the presence of malignancy. (Waldmann and Herberman, 1982). Tumor markers, which are substances that can be related to the presence or progress of neoplasms, were studied comprehensively as regards the application of their serum level in mass screening, differential diagnosis, detection of micrometastasis and monitoring response to therapy.
