Abstract The master thesis include four main chapter I- Introduction This chapter includes an overview of previous researches for complexes of hydrazone ligands and their application II- Aim of the work The work aimed to prepare and characterize new hydrazone ligand and its metal complexes aiming to study their effects in the treatment of tumor diseases III- Experimental This chapter contains the chemical and instruments used in Practical part of thesis as follow: 1) Preparation of the hydrazone ligand and its metal complexes. 2) characterization of the ligand and its complexes using: Physical techniques such as molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility Elemental analyses (C, H, N, Cl and M). Spectral techniques as IR, UV- Vis., 1HNMR, mass spectra and ESR measurements. Thermal techniques as DTA. and TGA 3) Measurement of biological activity English summary - 151 - iv. Results and discussion This chapter includes characterization of the ligand and its complexes. The ligand 4-methyl-N (2,3,4,5,6 pentahydroxyhexaly -diene) benzohydrazide was prepared as follow: 1- Condensation of glucose with of 4-methylbenzohydrazide (1:1) for three hours to obtain glucose toluenoyl hydrazone . The reaction of the ligand glucose toluenoyl hydrazone with Cu(II), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II), Hg(II), Tl(I) and Hg(II) ion gave metal complexes which had been characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV- Vis spectra, mass spectra, 1H-NMR spectra, magnetic moments, conductances, thermal analyses (DTA and TGA) and ESR measurements. The IR data show that, the ligand behaves as the ligand behaves as neutral or monobasic bidentate, monobasic tridentate, or dibasic tetradentate type . Molar conductances in DMF indicate that, the complexes are non- electrolyte. ESR spectra of solid Cu(II) complexes show axial or isotropic type d(x2-y2) with covalent bond character, however, Co(II) and Mn(II) complexes show isotropic type. Cu(II) complex (2), (3) and (4), Zn(II) complex (22) and Co(II) complex (23) showed better chemotherapeutic effect against HEPG- 2 liver cell line than the standard drug used. |
