Objectives of the study: The study aimed to study the geographical distribution and spatial variation patterns of urbanization in the area of the phenomenon, and discuss the relationship between the emergence of the oil and the economic and social levels of the population of the region and its reflection on the pattern of urbanization in the area of the phenomenon, as the aim of this study to the work of a comparison between the pattern of urbanization before and after the discovery of oil in the Sultanate of Oman, and evaluation of modern style and analysis, and highlight the most important urban problems and how to address the contemporary urban environment. Division of the study : The study is divided into five chapters spearheaded the introduction as follows: -
Chapter One: ”titled” geographical features natural for the study area, ”and talked about the location and spatial relationships, and space, and aspects of the surface, climate, and the second chapter titled” features of human geography of the study area, ”and it talked about the population in the area of the phenomenon through two axes, the first dealt with the size and growth of population, and the second dealt with the characteristics of the population in terms of age and sex structure, economic structure, educational status, and the third chapter entitled ”oil wealth and its role in the development of the study area,” and dealt with the historical overview of the discovery of oil in Oman , oil wells in the Sultanate of Oman, the distribution of oil wells in the study area, the volume of production of national and local levels, and finally the role of oil in urban development and human in the study area, and the fourth chapter, entitled ”Changes urban pattern of urbanization in the study area,” and talked about the plan of building in the area phenomenon, forms of urban growth, the installation of Urban and, finally, the morphology of the housing, Chapter V: He came on ”the general principles in the planning and pattern of land use,” and talked about the use of land in the province of the phenomenon, and map land prices governorate phenomenon, and came sixth chapter titled ”Evolution public services and facilities in the study area, ”and dealt with the evolution of the production of electricity, and water supply sector, the services sector of hygiene and sanitation, and houses of worship services sector, and telecommunications and entertainment services.
Results of the study:
1-the oil sector played a vital role in the field of human development and urban in the study area, has left a clear impact in various areas of economic and social development in the country.
2-saw the construction activity in the area of the phenomenon in recent years, significant growth like other regions of the Sultanate.
3-divided regions produce oil and natural gas in the Sultanate to four major geographic locations.
