Abstract

Maximum power point trackers (MPPTs) play an important role in photovoltaic PV power systems because they maximize the power output from PV system for a given set of conditions, and therefore maximize the array efficiency. thus, an MPPT can maximize the overall system cost. MPPTs find and maintain operation at the maximum power point, using an MPPt algorithm. in this work high efficiency maximum power point tracker is presented MPPT. incremental conductance INC, perturb and observe P&O algorithms and several improvements of P&O algorithms are proposed and implemented using a low-cost PIC microcontroller. the algorithms are compareed at different step values of perturbation. in addition the photovoltaic cell characteristic are measured in the actual environmental conditions and plotted. exprimental results showed that the MPPT tracks well the MPP. the effect of different step values of the actual performance of system is studied and evaluated. the actual comparative study of algorithms showed that the INC method improves the limitations of the P&O algorithm by improving the tracking accuracy and dynamic performance under rapidly changing conditions.
