Abstract The aim of this study is t o generate a series of monoclonal antibodies against S . mansoni egg antigens and to screen these monoclonal antibodies for their effect on the immune response induced by SEA. The in vitro immune response selected for this approach is SEA-induced lymphocyte blastogenesis of spleen cells obtained from acutely infected mice. Suppressive clones will then be selected, expanded and used to characterize and purify the relevant antigen(s) using immunoaffinity chromatography. The purified antigen(s) will then be used to study their role in immunopathogenesis of disease in mice. |
