Abstract
Salmonellae are primarily intestinal parasites of humans and many animals, since its discovery in the late 1800s and its naming in 1900, many additional forms of bacteria have been added to the Salmonella group, which now includes more than 2,500 types that are able to infect humans and animals. Salmonella infection is one of the most common food-borne infections worldwide and because of that there were many studies done to detect salmonella in human and animals. The study was done at Benha Hospitals, ALAhrar hospital, Zagazig fever hospital and finally Central Laboratories in Cairo. The samples were taken from cases admitted to the hospitals and presenting with enteric symptoms as clinical samples 1150 (which first examined by routine examination to exclude the parasitic causes) were only350 samples continued in the study, food handlers stool samples 220 and food staffs samples 240 (meat and fish), isolates first cultured on selective media as XLD, SS media , then the H2S (+ ve) isolates were subjected to biochemical reactions and at the same to the new test to compare the effectiveness of the new medium(LT) with the traditional biochemical reaction, then for the introduction of a practical and accurate typing scheme for epidemiological study the positive isolates from both testes were judged by serotyping as a confirmatory methods. The results showed that the results of LT medium was the same as that of the traditional biochemical reactions after confirmed by serotyping testing, it was observed by serotyping two serotypes were identified Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella enteritidis .Which is the strains propagating in community of the study.
