Abstract

1. The mesoporous material MCM-41 was synthesized by coprecipitation procedure using CTAB and TEOS then calcined at 550oC for 4 hrs.
2. PMA/MCM-41, AgPMA/MCM41 and FePMA/MCM41 samples were prepared by impregnation method and calcined at temperature of 350°C for 4 hrs.
3. SO42-/Fe-MCM-41 samples were prepared by soaking 50wt% Fe/MCM-41 calcined at 500oC with different wt% of H2SO4 acid and then calcined at 450°C for 4 hrs.
4. The effect of calcination temperatures was studied.
5. Structural characterization of the prepared catalysts and the phase changes were determined using X-ray, FTIR, TEM and SEM techniques.
6. Textural properties were determined by measuring the adsorption of nitrogen at -196oC using conventional volumetric apparatus.
7. The total surface acidity of the catalysts was determined by applying the potentiometric titration of n-butylamine in acetonitrile. The nature of acid sites of the investigated catalysts was determined by pyridine adsorption measurements.
8. The catalytic activity of the prepared catalysts was measured by three reactions; synthesis of 7-hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin, synthesis of hydroquinone diacetate and synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidinone.
