Abstract

Operated azo compounds and it’s complexes great importance in many chemical industries over the past years , especially those that contain aromatic ring is homogeneous or more , and because of its uses and diverse applications in many vital areas , some are used in diverse areas of dyeing and other industrial uses as colorants in some foods and some of these compounds are used in the pharmaceutical industry and there are many of them used as evidence in the field of analytical chemistry or separation processes in some metal ions mixtures and in addition to that , it depends on Rhodanine in interaction with a large number of transition elements , and the composition of the hexagonal ring fixed , as well as for use as reagents in analytical and medical products .
The thesis includes the preparation and study about the structure of the compounds of azo derivative of 2-thioxothiazolidine-4-one with derivatives of Para aniline was also prepare and study complexes of these compounds with some transition elements.
The thesis includes the three main chapters:
Chapter 1: Introduction
Contains a presentation of the research advice on preparation and installation prove structure of azo compounds and it’s complexes from the standpoint of structural and applied with an indication of the importance of coordination of these complexes also been some research on the biological activity of azo compounds.
Chapter 2: experimental
Respect to the practical part of the thesis contains the preparation of azo compounds are given for the following
• (E)-5-((4-methyl-3-nitrophenyl)diazenyl)-2-thioxothiazolidin-4-one (HLI)
• (E)-5-(2-(2-methoxy-5-nitrophenyl)diazenyl)-2-thioxothiazolidin-4-one (HLII)
And also the preparation of some complexes with transition elements.
Chapter 3: Results and discussion
Contains four parts
Part 1: characterization of ligands and metal complexes
Characterization of ligands with some transition elements by analytical methods (IR and 1H NMR) .Analysis using infrared proven azo group, and the absorption of the azo group after prepare complexes when the value is less than which appeared before the process of its, which also indicates the involvement of azo group in coordination through the nitrogen atom. And it can be concluded that the correlation occurred between the oxygen atom in the phenolic group and azo group and ion transition elements thus constituting the hexagonal ring which increases the stability of the resulting complexes. It was also to make sure the process has found lose proton from phenolic ring Rhodanine after the formation of zinc complexes using 1H NMR.
Part 2: Includes Potentiometric studies
Has been set for the hydrogen dissociation constants of different ligands and constants for complexes of these ligands with the following metals:
Cu, Co, Ni and Mn
Using voltage analysis in the presence of 0.1 M potassium chloride and 50% mixture of alcohol and water .The impact of replacements different dissociation constants has been appointed and constants of the configuration of these compounds with the metals were constants configuration of the complexes as follows:
Cu2+ > Ni2+> Co2+ >Mn2+
Then the temperature was studied with thermodynamics parameters (ΔG, ΔH and ΔS).
from this analysis appeared that the linkage was 1:2 (metal: 2 ligands).
Part 3: includes thermal analysis studies
By studying the thermal analysis, temperatures required for the disintegration of the compounds have been proved and the number of atoms and molecules in each phase and the remaining at the end of each stage is unburned carbon atoms or those with metals oxides.
Part 4: structure of ligands and its metal complexes
The crystalline form complexes with transition elements proved .it takes octahedral structure which is the most stable form and investigator of all previous studies.
And the thesis concluded a list of references is used; references: 117, the table: 25, the figers: 114, Arabic summary and English summary.
