Abstract
Previously the N -trityl function has been used as a novel
alkyl-type amino-protecting group which is very easily deblocked under mild acidic conditions. Because no carbonyl function is present in contrast to the case of various N-acyl and N-carbalkoxy protecting groups there is no expectation of racemization during coupling. In fact this has proved to be the case.
