Abstract This study aimed to assess the effect of simvastatin on healing of experimentally induced periapical lesions. 2.5 mg/ml and 5 mg/ml simvastatin was injected through the root canals, in experimental group I and II, respectively. The control group was injected with saline. After one week the canals were obturated. The results showed that the use of simvastatin as intracanal medication in cases of periapical lesions can downregulate inflammation, promote periodontal repair and accelerate healing. |
