Abstract ABSTRACT The main target of the present investigation was to study the effect of radish seeds, celery seeds, olive leaves, liquorice roots and mixture of all plants (7.5%)levels on uricemia in albino rats. Thirty five male albino rats (Sprague Dawley strain)divided into two main groups. The first group (5 rats) fed on basal diet as a (control group-ve), while the second main group (30 rats) fed on high fructose diet for two weeks. The second main group divided into six subgroup (5rats each). Subgroup (1)fed on high fructose diet (control positive group +ve). Subgroups (2-7) fed on high fructose diet containing 7.5% either radish seeds, celery seeds, olive leaves, liquoric roots & mixture of all plants. At the end of the experimental period (4weeks) rats were fasted over night before sacrificing, blood was collected then centrifuged to separate the serum. Liver, kidney, lungs, spleen and heart removed from each rat ,cleaned and weighted to estimate of organs weight. Liver ,kidney and heart were prepared for hestopathological examination by light microscope. The obtained results revealed that , feeding rats on high fructose diet led to significant increase in body weight gain% ,organs weights, serum glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, VLDL, uric acid ,urea nitrogin, creatinine, AST, ALT and ALP, and decreased HDL. Treating rats which were fed on high fructose diet with the levels from radish seeds, celery seeds, olive leaves, liquorice roots and mixture of all plants showed decreased levels of serum uric acid, urea, creatinine, and improved all other parameters and internal organs weights. The histopathological examination confirmed the improvements in biological and biochemical parameters. |
