Abstract
New Borg El- Arab city is one of the most important industrial cities in Egypt. Borg El- Arab area comprises the north eastern portion of Western Desert. It is located between latitudes 30° 20ˋ and 31° 10 ˋ N and longitudes 29° 00 ˋ and 30° 30 ˋ E, Figure (1.1) the present work is concerned with the study of lithostratigraphy of Miocene and post-Miocene succession in Borg El- Arab area with investigating the environment of sedimentation the stratigarphic section study lithostratigraphy measures about 2120 M Thick and it belong to the early and middle Miocene, Pliocene, Pleistocene and Holocene Studying of the geology and seismo-tectonic setting of the study area is very important for the present work as they give an idea about the dynamic characteristics of the subsurface and the degree of rocks consolidation and compaction of this area and to obtain the foundation parameters and evaluate the amplification characteristics of the area
The study area shows a modified lithostratigraphic classification for the discussed geologicsuccession and resulted in the recognition of the different environments of deposition for.
