Abstract The balance between cell survival and cell death represent an essential crossroad to preserve a normal homeostasis and to avoid potentially dangerous cell replication. Deregulations in the apoptotic pathways have been implicated in pathogenesis of many cancer types including OSCC. This study was carried out with the aim of evaluation of immunohistochemical expression of an antiapoptotic protein, survivin, in oral epithelial dysplasia and SCC. Correlations of survivin expression to degree of dysplasia and to malignancy grade of the studied tumours was also done. |
