Abstract

Objectives: The present research aimed to study the effects of dietary
graded levels of some pre- and probiotics [mainly Aqua Superzyme, Garlen
Allicin, and Diamond V (Original XPC)] on Nile tilapia fish, concerning their
growth performance, feed utilization, apparent digestibility, immunity, carcass
composition, histometric test, haematology and economics.
Methods& Results: The study aimed to investigate the effect of
dietary graded levels of three pre-and probiotics, namely the prebiotic Aqua
Superzyme (0.01, 0.02, and 0.03), the probiotic Garlen Allicin (0.01, 0.02, and
0.03) and the probiotic Diamond V (Original XPC) (0.4, 0.5, and 0.6% of the
diet ).Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, fingerlings (fifteen fish/aquarium of
the same initial body weight, 10 g/fish). After two weeks adaptation period,
the actual experimental feeding period (16 weeks) started on the 15th of
October 2011 and continued for 16 weeks till the 15th of March 2012 in thirty
glss aquaria (60 x 75 x 50 cm), at triplicates / treatment.
Conclusion:
1- Most (Aqua Superzyme and Diamond V (XPC) ) tested prebiotics -
and probiotics have an antibiotic effect against many pathogenic bacteria.
2- The probiotic Diamond V (XPC) at 0.5% of the diet was responsible
for significantly the best obtained results related to the parameters of growth
performance, survival, economics of production, energy retention, body
composition, and histometry of the dorsal muscles.
3- The prebiotic Aqua Superzyme at 0.01% of the diet reflected the
significantly best digetibility coefficiency and survival against bacterial
infection, besides best blood picture (immunity).
Form these results, we recommend using 0.5% (XPC2) of the diet to realize
similar improvements in growth performance, feed and nitration utilization,
carcass composition and structure, under similar experimental conditions.
