Abstract CKD is defined as either renal injury and/or a GFR below 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 for more than 3 months. GFR below 15 mL/min/1.73 m2 is defined as end stage renal disease ESRD. Aim of this work is to evaluate the effect of cincalcet on serum level of insulin like growth factor-1 in children with ESRD on regular hemodialysis. Peritoneal dialysis is a technique that employs the patient’s peritoneal membrane as a dialyzer. Excess body water is removed by an osmotic gradient created by the high dextrose concentration in the dialysate, wastes are removed by diffusion from the peritoneal capillaries into the dialysate. Access to the peritoneal cavity is achieved by a surgically inserted, tunneled tenckhoff catheter. It can be done at home on own schedule or at night, while patient is sleeping. Peritoneal dialysis provides approximately 10% of normal kidney function. It does not reverse chronic kidney disease or kidney failure. |
