Abstract There is little interest in assessing learning needs of nurse teachers. These needs must be identified and justified in order to enhance nurse teachers’ professional development. Aim of current study was to assess learning needs of five –years nursing schools’ teachers from their points of views and assess learning needs of five –years nursing schools’ teachers from their supervisors’ points of views. Design: Analytic descriptive research design was used in this study. Setting: This study was conducted in nursing at Menofia and Qalyobia Governats .Subject: Included in this study were two groups (110) nurse teachers group and (20) supervisors group who worked at above mentioned setting. Three tools were used to achieve the purpose of this study (1) preliminarily study of nurse teachers (2) preliminarily study of supervisor (3) needs assessment questionnaire sheet were used for data collection. Results: The finding of the present study reported that the nurse teachers and their supervisors are able to identify teachers needs in (academic side, general culture side and professional educational side), but the presented educational program does not satisfy these needs. Conclusion: In the light of the present study it can be concluded that the nurse teachers and their supervisors are able to identify teachers’ real needs. Thus, it can be used as a baseline for providing an educational program based on these real needs. Recommendation: Further research is recommended in the field of needs assessment of nurse teachers. |
