Abstract -Urea supplemented to replace 1.25% from total ration dry matter was safe and economic and has no adverse effect on body weight gain, feed conversion, feed efficiency, ingestive behaviour as well as wool characteristics. 2-Addition of methionine have pronounced effect on body weight gain, feed efficiency, feed conversion and also wool characters as grease fleece weight, clean wool yield as well as scouring percentage , staple length , fibre diameter. Ash percentage and grease percentage. 3-Addition of urea , methionine and sulphur have a significant effect on staple length , rummination time, chews/ bolus and total No. of bolus / hr. 4-Urea supplementation decrease the medullated fibre percentage (high medullated fibre percentage in coarse fleeces influences its wool value since medullated fibres do not accept dye in manufacture and behave almost like kemp). 5- The low price of urea indicate the economical adventage of its use. So when using urea as a nitrogen supplement in sheep ration, the sheep must be given chance to graze and use minerals supplement to over come the shortage in some minerals and other nutrient Finally urea supplementation as a suitable percent of ration and on expense of a part of concentrate mixture with addition of amino acid methionine is safe , economic and has a good effect on body gain and feed efficiency in sheep. |
