Abstract
The main objective of this thesis was to isolate and study the morphological characteristics, Physico-chemical and at a molecular biological level of the viruses that infect cyanobacteria (blue-green algae), in fresh water in some Egyptian water streams. Water samples were collected from the study sites during the period from June 2009 to February 2011 from three locations in El-Minia governorate which are; the river Nile, El-Ibrahimia canal and El-Moheit drainage (which receive agricultural, industrial and human wastes) together with one site in El-Qalubia governorate located in a rice field.
