Abstract
The present study was carried out on total of 26 bitches of different
ages admitted into the Clinic, Military Vet. Hospital, during the period from July 1999 to June 2000.
-Bitches had a history of infertility with or without mucopurulent or purulent vaginal discharge in addition to signs of abdominal distension, depression, anorexia and vomiting in some cases.
-According to the elapsed period of infertility, bitches were allowed
tow systems of testament as follows- :
-Prostaglandin F2Alfa treated group (15 cases) with history of
infertility up to 2 years.
-Ovariohysterectomy - treated group (11 case) with history of
infertility over 2 years.Both groups were manipulated before and after treatment to identify the following :
- Vaginal smears were taken to determine the vaginal cellule changes.
They indicated the presence of high number of polymorphnuclear (leukocytes neutrophils) with ingested bacteria ,few number of degreased stratied squamous cells, intermediate cells , proposal cells and red blood corpusels.
-Whole blood samples were taken for hematology .They revolved
significant decrease in the total RBCs count , Hb concentration and PCV(%) , while the total WBCs ’count and neutrophils were significantly increase .
-Blood serum function were taken to estimate the liver (AST,ALT and
All)) and kidney function (urea,creatinine and GGT) as well as progesterone concentration. They indicated a highly significant increase in all parameters.
- Swabs from the vagina and uterus were taken for bacteriology . Pure culture of E coli , Staph .aureus and Staph.intermediate were related and treated against the potency of antibiotics . E .coli were highly sensitive to Gentamycin, Chloramphynicol and Cotrimoxazol, while other strains were sensitive only to Kanamycin.
-Ulterasonographic examination was made by using 5-7.5 MHz probe
in standing position It displaying thickening of the uterine wall and
filling of the uterine lumen with hypoechoaic fluid.
- Samples were taken from the uterine wall after ovariohyterctomy for histopathology . They demonstrated total or great destruction in the uterine epithelium , cystic or destroyed glands and lukocytic infiltration mainly neutrophils.
-After treatment with PGF2-Alfa , coupled with antibiotics therapy
there were 11 cases responded (73.33%) , 7 cases rebreed (63.64%) and 4 cases conceived (57.14) of the total case.
