Abstract Coronary Artery Disease is the most common form of cardiovascular disease; it is the leading cause of cardiovascular mortality Worldwide. MI is the most common form of Coronary Artery Disease and is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the world with a mortality rate of approximately 25%. Although there has been a decline in the incidence of heart disease in the world, it remains a major cause of death and disability and many people are disabled after MI (American Heart Association, 2009). Increase knowledge about MI personal risk factors and symptoms and positive perceptions are important for people to perceive symptoms as dangerous. People need to know what to do and what are the appropriate responses to their symptoms to benefit from the treatment and to improve their outcomes (James, 2011). Aim of the study: To assess patient’s knowledge and perception about myocardial infarction risk factors. Research Questions: The present study intends to answer the following questions: 1. What are the patients’ levels of knowledge regarding myocardial infarction risk factors? 2. What are the perceptions of patients regarding MI risk factors? 3. Is there any relationship between knowledge and perception about risk factors in patients with myocardial infarction. |
