Abstract This report discusses the importance of the automatic control in industry especially for steam turbine. It discusses different types of control systems. It also explains different types of mechanisms by which the steam turbine control is carried out, types of governors control systems such as mechanical and electro hydraulic systems with its hydraulic amplifiers. It describes the main functions of a modern turbine control system especially on steam turbine of sidi krir power station, shows its mode of operation and protection against serious hazards, e.g., lose of lube oil pressure, high exhaust temperature, high bearing temperature to ensure long term reliable operation and service of the turbine. It also explains the control system component such as pumps, oil tank, filters actuators, servo valves and accumulators. It shows the oil properties which will improve the operation and reduce the wear down rate and hence the maintenance cost of the machine and shows some oil physical characteristics. The report explains how to make a design of control oil system and proper selection of its components and show the actuators circuit diagram for opening ,closing and tripping for shut off and control valves for steam turbine; this was applied on Steam turbine of SIDI KRlR power station and its control system. |
