Abstract
Abu Qir Thermal Power station is one of west delta electricity Production Company, ituated on the Mediterranean coast, 20 km east of Alexandria. The Plant is equipped with five stearn turbine generators of a total installed power capacity 900 MW. Like any other thermal power station the unit consists of condenser, feed water pumps, boger and turbine. The first chapter tells about the history of the unit 5 with 300MW power capacity. In the second chapter the boiler and its auxiliaries is described. The boiler is a controlled circulation reheat boiler with (16) of remotely controllable gas igniters, oil and gas burners. Its circuits. are described in the second part of the chapter. The third part informs us about the followed steps to start up or to shut down the unit. The third chapter describes other mechanical equipments of the unit such as Cooling water circuit, condenser vacuum, condenser extraction system, low pressure heaters, feed water tank, feed water pumps and high pressure heaters.
