Abstract The present work was designed to assest the ameliorative and protective role of curcumin against liver injury induced by Thioacetamide through the attention paid to Histological, Histochemical and ultrastructural follow up of such effect .Regarding the possible effect which might be caused by TAA, the available literature affords considerable information to the general aspects, fibrinogenic and carcinogenic effects of it. Moreover, possible information about the antifibrinogenic and anticarcinogenic action of curcumin extract on TAA. Experimental design: In the present work, a total of 160 male albino rats (rattus norvegicus) aging approximately four months and weighing between ( 80-100) grams body weight were used. The experimental animals were divided randomly into four groups each comprised 40 rats and were treated as follows. Group I: Served as a control and the animals and the animals were given equivalent volumes of the sterilized distilled water. Group II This group was treated orally by using gastric tube by a daily dose of turmeric extract (300 mg/kg) daily for 12, 16, 18, and 20 weeks. The rats were sacrificed after treatment by cervical decapitation to illustrate the histopathological, histochemical and ultrastructural abnormalities which might take place as a consequence of treatment. Group III This group was treated by TAA 200mg/kg, twice a week for 12 weeks only. Samples were taken from this group after 12,16,18,20 weeks after cervical decapitation to illustrate the histopathological, histochemical, and immunological abnormalities which might take place as a consequence of treatment. |
