Abstract An interactive and simplified computer program was developed to meet the needs of ventilation, and air conditioning (VAC) system design requirements. The program computes the variation of the cooling load, heat extraction rate and the actual inside space air temperature through the day. The optimum results of solar heat transmission were obtained for a given building having large areas of shaded windows on the south direction. The Transfer Function Method (TFM) requires shorter computer executing time compared with Finite Difference Method (FDM). The program was checked against FDM and Total Equivalent Temperature Difference TETD which reveals comparable results. Also the Program was made to be a simple design tool, since computer aided design gives an accurate and energy conservative building thermal analysis. The calculated cooling loads showed that the cooling capacity of the different cooling units of each area of a typical nuclear fuel facility is higher than the required thermal load so the units are saving to meet the design requirements according to safety regulations in nuclear facilities. It should take in account to make the building orientation as (North -South-East –West) in order to get the least amount of heat transferred. Also sun breakers should be created in order to have shaded walls. Also walls, roofs, ground became thermally insulated the amount of transferred heat will decrease greatly. Lighting, when energy advantage lamp from resected source is used the required lighting will be achieved with less amount of heat. This conclusion can be described in the following points: Despite fluorescent lamps has very good lumen to watt ratio compared to other types, but its low life time compared to led lamp CFL lamps’ problem causes total cost to be high. Always comes in first place are the LED lamps because of its: long life time. Low watt compared to other types good price according to life time. A comparative study among the three chillers types (electric, Absorption and gas engine driven chiller), for almost 20 years shows that the natural gas chillers are the most economical where the solar hybrid split AC impose 33% save when compared with conventional one. |
