Abstract
This study of hand infection is made to prevent the cothjllications of hand infection and to discus the proper way for medical and surgical interfer— ence of the various hand infections, so this study io Etarted with a good discusion for the surgical anatomy of the hand to show the different spaces which is more liable to infection and abscess formations also the relation between it and vessels and erves ,. The functional importance of the hand give us a good idea about the different movements of the hand and fingers which lead us to non cornplicable surgical interference and to put in mind any scar formation in advance must not interfere with n€ither movements nor the sensation of the fingers and the hand
The pathological study of the hand infection give us an idea about the most common organism which is staph aureus and perhaps beta hemolytic stre— pto coccus , so the first line of treatment is to give the proper antibiotic until the result of the cuJture sensitivity test appears , anyhéw whenever pus is formed, it must be drained and surgical interference must be done to evacuat the
abscess and to make surgical drainage , the lat— ter is important for deep •paces infection. The incisions must not cross the flexion creases at right angle , least a contracture develop, sharp incisions is limited to the skin only and the remainder of deep dessection is blunt to protect the deep structures
Qeneral anaesthesia is better than the regional anaesthesia in case of extensive infection, whenever in case of paronychia and pulp space infections wrist block is effctive and axillary block can give a better result
