Abstract Medicinal plants plays a major role in the treatment of human diseases and have various effects on living systems. Family Euphorbiaceae (Spurge family) is one of the most important plant kingdom, which includes a wide variety of medicinal plants. So we interest to choose Euohorbia bivonae as a herbal plant belongs to this family. E. bivonae is a wild perennial plant growing in Agiba rocky ridges,Marsa Matruh. The chemical analysis of E. bivonae revealed that, this plant has low nutritive value due to the presence of low concentration of principle phyto-nutrients. The cytotoxic study of different extracts of E. bivonae on human cell line in vitro showed that, chloroform extract (E2) has a remarkable cytotoxic activity against (U251), (HEPG2) and (MCF7) at different concentrations and ethyl acetate (E3) was recorded potent cytotoxicity against (HEPG2) & (MCF7) at low concentrations. Acute toxicity examination for E. bivonae extracts revealed that all extracts were non-toxic and safe in mice up to (4000 mg/ kg b. wt). The administration of ethyl acetate extract (400 mg/ kg b.wt.) showed a potential improvement in different biological functions as liver and kidney functions in hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic rats with toxic dose of paracetamol (2 g / kg.b.wt.) |
