Abstract The present investigation was carried out on seventeen heads of Egyptian buffalo (Bos bubalis) of different ages and sexes. The specimens for anatomical studies (13 heads) were treated by ordinary routine preservation techni que. They were carefully dissected on both sides for clearing the origin, course and distribution of the oculomotor, abducent, glossopharyngeal and hypoglossal nerves using magnifying lens for demonstrating the associated ganglia and fine branches. 10% glacial acetic acid was also used to reveal the fine branches. The results obtained were compared and discussed with those of indian buffalo and other domesticated animals. The results of the present work were illustrated by five diagramatic figures and seven micropnotogra~hic pictures. The nomenclature used was that adopted by the Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria (1973, 1983). |
