Abstract The results of the experiments included in the present study showed that: I. The inoculation of Guinea pig with C. tetani toxoid at doses duplicated from 5 L.f./ ml to 160 L.f. / ml in a period of 6 weeks (a week interval). Resulted in the induction of tetanic antibodies which, increased gradually from 10.18 IU/ml past the 1st dose to reach 41.96 IU/ml by the 6th dose. 2.Guinea pigs receiving C. tetani toxoid with oil adjuvant showed higher levels of antibodies than in the case of the use of C. tetani toxoid alone. Vaccinated animal sera had titre of antibodies starting from 45 IU/ ml to 190.95 IU/ml after the 1st and 7th vaccination in duplication manner (from 5 Lf/ml to 320Lf/m1). 3.Seven inoculations of C. tetani toxoid with aluminiun hydroxide gel; with a week interval; were administrated to guinea pigs in a duplication manner (from 5 Lf/ml to 320 Lf/ml). These vaccinations resulted in an immunizing level of antibody titre started from 38 IU /m1 after the 1st dose to reach 163 IU /ml by the 7th dose. 4.The use of levamisole as an immunostimulant with the 2nd dose of C. tetani toxoid, resulted in a better immune response than the use of C. tetani toxoid alone. The obtained antibody titre was 70.24 IU/m1 after the 2nd dose reaching 132.95 IU/m1 by the 7th dose. |
