Abstract

In this study, isolation of viruses associated with coryza in chicken was carried out. One hundred and thirty eight samples were collected from 138 flocks representing 851 thousand birds of diffeent ages, breeds and different localities from Sharkia Province. The results of this study could be sun]n-iarized in the following:
1) The serological examination of sera collected from field cases using HI and AG P test revealed the incidence of antibodies against ND, TB, ILT, reovirus and poxvirus in percentage of 7.3,10.9,1.5, 4.9 and 0.73 respectively.
2) The viral isolation trials resulted in the isolation of 41 viral agents using egg embryo inoculation. The isolates were identified using HA, HI, AGP test pathogenictytest in susceptible birds and histopathology. The isolated viruses were:
A) Thirteen NDV. Pathogenicty of these isolates to 21 day old chicks and histopathological examination of tissues of experimentaly infected birds. Beside HI and AGP test were carried out.
B) Sixteen isolates AGP identified IBV. There pathogencity to 10 day-old chickens, histopathological lesions and reisolation trials were the criteria for evaluation of AGP identification of lB vims isolates.
C) Three AGP identified ILT viruses. There pathogencity to 42 day-old chickens, histopathological lesions and rei solation were the criteria for evaluation of the AGP identification of ILT virus.
D) Two AGP identified Pox virus. There pathogenicity to 35 day old chickens showed that the clinical signs. Histopathological lesions and reisolation trails were the criteria for evaluation of AGP identification ~I isolated pox virus
E) Seven AGP identified reoviruses. There pathogenicity to 10 day old chickens and hisopathological lesions and reisolation trials were the criteria for evaluation of AGP identification of reovirus isolates.
3) The bacteriological and parasitiological examination of all examined specimens during virus isolation trials were showed NDV, JVB, JLTV and reoviruses were associated with infectious. coryza wherevere hernojahilus was isolated ~or.notfln ..additiorj. seconday bacterial infections were found. Moreovere, reovirus was mixed with ND and TB viruses.
