Abstract

Children and adolescents psychological diseases are prevalent proplems in the world and did not take an adequate study in Egypt , so we thought in the work of a survey of psychiatric symptoms in a group of children and adolescents of the Egyptians.
In this work, 300 children ranging in age from six to eighteen attending pediatric out-patient clinic in Beni-Suef university hospital , were subjected to full clinical examination and their diagnosis was confirmed by laboratory and radiological investigations .
The study was based on two tests the first is Child Behavior Checklist 6-18 and the second is Stanford Binet Intelligent Scale.
The study found That 223 of patients are >67 in internal T score while 77 of them are ≤67, 203 of them are >65 in external T score while 97 of them are ≤65 , 164 of them are >60 in total T score while 136 of them are ≤60 .
The study found That 67 of patients(22.3%) are average in I.Q. score , 23 of them (7.7%) are mild in I.Q. score , 9 of them (3%) are moderate in I.Q. score , 16 of them (5.3%) are sever in I.Q. score , 75 of them (25%) are borderline in I.Q. score and 110 of them (36.7%) are below average in I.Q.score.
The study also found that :-
* there is a high significant difference between males and females as regarding Neurological diseases, there is a significant difference between males and females as regarding Blood diseases , Heart diseases, Acute respiratory tract infection and Rheumatoid arthritis and there is no significant difference between males and females as regarding Acute urinary tract infection , Acute gastroenteritis , Acute otitis media , Acute fever of unknown origin , Acute urticaria , Acute viral A hepatitis , Chronic diarrhea , Chronic sinusitis , Congenital hypothyroidism , Diabetes mellitus , Chronic renal diseases , Hepatic diseases , and Bronchial asthma.
* there is a significant difference between males and females as regarding Child Behaviour Checklist(CBCL) 6-18.
* there is a significant difference between males and females as regarding Stanford-Binet intelligence scale .
* there is a high significant difference between patients from urban areas and those from rural areas as regarding Acute respiratory tract infection, Neurological diseases and Rheumatoid arthritis , there is a significant difference between patients with urban areas and those with rural areas as regarding Acute urinary tract infection , Acute fever of unknown origin and there is no significant difference between patients with urban areas and those with rural areas as regarding Acute gastroenteritis, Acute otitis media , Acute urticaria , Acute viral A hepatitis , Chronic diarrhea , Chronic sinusitis , Congenital hypothyroidism, Diabetes mellitus , Chronic renal diseases, Blood diseases, Hepatic diseases, Heart diseases ,and Bronchial asthma.
