Abstract

This study was conducted on 350 balady goats at Kaluobia govemorate (Bertha — Moshtohor •— Shebeen El-Kanater and Toukh), all goats under investigation were subjected to frill clinical examination as well as parasitological analysis on fecal samples and haematological and serum biochemical studies on
blood and serum samples collected from infested goats and control non infested one. The results of this study declared that:- The overall prevalence of infestation percent was 85.7% and the prevalence rate was highest at Toukh (29%), followed by Moshtohor (25.7%), Shebeen El-Kanater (23%) and Benha (22.3%). The seasonal dynamics of infestation was high in winter (100%), than in spring (94.3%), summer (79.5%) and autumn (69.7%). - The seasonal prevalence of different gastrointestinal larvae
after faecal culture showed that the highest overall prevalence was for Trichostrongylus sp., (62%) followed by Chabertia sp., (48.3%), Haemonchus sp., (47.7%), Cooperia sp., (33%), Ostertagia sp., (29%), Oesphagostomum (27.7%), Nematodirus sp., (12%) and Ascaris sp., (4.7%). - The prevalence rate of goats with single nematode represented 10.33%, while goats infested with 2 types, 3 types and 4 types of nematodes were 35.67, 33.33 and 20.67%, respectively. - The prevalence of caprine nematodiasis in relation to age revealed that the highest infestation rate was among goats aging of 3 months — less than one year (87.5%), followed by that aging of one year — less than 2 year age (85.7%), then goats of more than 2 years age (83.3%). - The infested goats showed variable clinical signs as decrease of appetite or anorexia, rough hair coat, reduced body gain, emaciation, diarrhea with soft feces contained mucous or blood which sometimes soiled perineum and hindquarter, sub mandibular edema and anemic pallor mucous membranes. - The effect of nematodiasis on some hematological values in infested and control goats revealed significant or non significant alteration in RBcs, Hb, PCV, WBcs and differential leucocytic count in infested goats in comparisons with control
goats. - The effect of nematodiasis on some serum biochemical parameters demonstrated either significant or non significant reduction or evaluation in total protein, albumin, globulin, GPT, alkaline phosphatase, y-glutamyl transferase, urea and
crearinine in infested goats in comparison with control ones. - The treatment with ivermectin and levamisole resulted in clinical improvement of infested goats, disappearance of eggs from feces of infested goats and all of hematological and serum biochemical parameters moved nearly to normal values. - The clinical efficacy of ivermectin and levamisole reached to 100% at 5th days and 7th days post treatment respectively.
