Abstract

The present study was conducted to examine 100 randomly collected poultry feed samples collected from different poultry farms and feed mills at Menofia Governorate, for the presence of Aspergillus group. The present results revealed the isolation of different Aspergillus species in 92% of the examined samples. Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus niger were found to be the predominate (67.4% and 40.2%) followed by Aspergillus fumigatus (31.5%), A. ochraceus (8.6%), A. candidus (8.6) and finally A. terreus (2.1%) Many of the isolated Asergillus flavus strains (53.2 %) were found to produce aflatoxins with the average concentration of 16 mg/L, 17mg/L, 9.1 mg/L and 12.12 for yellow corn, whit corn, bration ration and layer ration respectively. And also 87.5% of the isolated Aspergillus ochraceus strains were found to produce ochratoxin A with average concentration of 62 mg/L, 36 mg/L 30 mg/L and 9mg/L for yellow corn, white corn, broiler ration and layer ration respectively. To study the effect of mycotoxins on broiler chicken: A total of 120 one day old hubbard chicks were kept for 14 days and through this week the chicks fed on free ration then the chickens divided into 8 equal groups (every group contain 15 chickens) were used in the following order: - Group No.I: chicks were fed on a ration containing 20 [tg aflatoxin B1 (AF). Group No.2: chicks were fed on a ration containing 250 μg AF. Group No.3: chicks were fed on a ration containing 500 vg of AF. Group No.4: chicks were fed on a ration containing 50 [ig ochratoxin A (OA). Group No.5: chicks were fed on a ration containing 250 lig OA. Group No.6: chicks were fed on a ration containing 20 lig AF + 50 pg OA. Group No.7: chicks were fed on a ration containing 250 gg AF + 250 [.tg OA. Group No.8: chicks were fed on a ration free from mycotoxins fed on contaminated ration for 6 weeks.
